Biography
Darren Dempster is a Brooklyn-born interdisciplinary artist and educator. His inspirations encompass the symbols and icons found across Urban-American, Caribbean, and Latin cultures. Dempster’s work explores themes of nostalgia, identity, divinity, and integration.
Dempster studied Chemistry and Graphic Design at SUNY Purchase College and was a previous Exhibitions representative for the Joan Mitchell Foundation Alumni Council. He has hosted workshops with the Joan Mitchell Foundation to provide a network for young artists of color. Dempster has participated in several group shows at Galería PADA, CUE Art Foundation, Hamilton Landmark Gallery, and the Ortega y Gasset Projects.
